Hope for Abandoned Children
"We are very grateful for the work of Children's Hunger Relief Fund in its efforts to provide abandoned and orphaned children, particularly AIDS orphans, with nutritional assistance, clean water, education materials, and medical services."

AIDS/HIV

AIDS has reached epidemic levels across Africa. The astonishing number of AIDS orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa is now over 11 million. To help meet this unprecedented challenge, Children's Hunger Relief Fund has undertaken the funding of feeding centers, AIDS/HIV prevention seminars, and "Samaritan Homes."

In our low cost but effective AIDS/HIV prevention seminars, members of African communities learn to better understand the risks and prevention of AIDS/HIV. These seminars create awareness by covering topics such as the definition of AIDS, modes of transmission, effects of AIDS, and ways of preventing the spread of this deadly disease. There is often a video or speaker living with AIDS included with each seminar.

In 2000 the first "Samaritan Home" was established to create a loving environment for the many children left in the wake of the AIDS epidemic. These homes now located in Zambia, Kenya, and South Africa are specially designed to care for children who are living with AIDS or have been traumatized by the loss of one or both parents. Here children receive the medical attention, nutrition and love every child deserves.

Orphans Around the World

In many countries no support system exists, and even basic health services are almost nonexistent. Consequently, homeless children are at great risk for illnesses, abuse, and sexual exploitation.

In 2003, we pledged our support to the expansion of our Samaritan Centers in South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, and Afghanistan.

In these centers, children receive daily love and care from dedicated volunteers in a place they can call home. In addition, orphans are taught the skills needed for their eventual departure from the center.

Roz Carr with orphanSince 1994, CHRF has funded the Imbabazi Orphanage in Rwanda, home to over 100 children. The lives of these children were torn apart by continuous tribal warfare. Now, Roz Carr, age 92, cares for these children with the help of 20 assistants.

Founded by CHRF, two orphanages in Nicaragua continue to receive funding through our donors. Hogar de Fe serves as a home for 66 children.

Twenty children have come to call Hogar el Reposo in Nueva Guinea home. Here they receive lots of the much needed love and attention they need to help them grow to be happy, healthy children.

Hogar de Ninos Emmanuel in Juarez, Mexico offers room, board, education, medical care, and various daily activities to over 200 children. A vocational training program has now been established to train children to be independent and self-sufficient upon graduation.

Your donations to CHRF can help change the lives of thousands of children every year
