Children are accustomed to begging for food after the storms pass through in the Philippines.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As you may know this month our partners in the Philippines were told to expect another deadly typhoon that could have taken the lives of hundreds of children and families. Our teams have gone out to help the Filipino people rebuild their homes in the past after these massive storms have destroyed thousands of homes. It is especially catastrophic for the families and children who have decided to take shelter under bridges in the city of Manila as thousands of them do every year.<\/p>\n

\"Past<\/a>
Past storms have caused dangerous situations and many deaths where our partners work in the city of Manila.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cWhen the storms come these people\u2019s lives are totally changed\u201d reported Pastor Campbell Kelley, one of the leaders of the CHRF teams who have been to the Philippines, \u201cI know in the United States a storm is not often a major calamity, in fact, we often depend on the rain water it brings, but in the Philippines a major storm can mean death for hundreds of children living under bridges in the city or in small towns on the beach. That\u2019s why this Christmas season was so special!<\/strong> Our teams were in place for damage control and ready for disaster response. But when the storms came they receded far quicker then any in recent past. We were all delighted that this time the flash floods that we are accustomed to seeing with these Typhoons did not occur, consequently, many people\u2019s lives were spared!\u201d<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Hunger Relief Fund has been proud to work with and support our partners in the Philippines for over 6 years now. This year we decided to do something a little different.<\/p>\n

Pastor Kelley shared \u201cBy buying local fishermen a boat we\u2019ve also been able to help start a small business. But that\u2019s not all, these good fishermen also will donate 10% of their catches to hungry families for as long as they use the boat! That may not seem like much to you or me but in the Philippines, where children live off of as little as one meal that costs about ten cents a day, the fishermen\u2019s generosity is a great blessing! Ten Percent of their catches means dozens, hundreds, even thousands of meals for years to come for children and their families!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This boat purchased by CHRF will help feed many children for the weeks, months perhaps even years to come!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There is so much to be thankful for not only in the Philippines this Christmas but all around the world. Our CHRF Emergency Relief Team just safely returned from another astonishing delivery trip into the dangerous areas of South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia where we helped deliver well over one-hundred thousand meals!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
