Is Planned Giving right for me?
If you want to make a difference in this world, Planned Giving may be right for you. It has been said that there are only two things that are certain in life: death and taxes. If you want to make a difference in the lives of children and at the same time preserve more of your accumulated wealth from the Tax Man, then planned giving with Children's Hunger Relief Fund (CHRF) maybe be right for you and your heirs.
Planned Giving offers a set of alternative methods for a donor to leave money or assets to Children's Hunger Relief Fund at the end of his/her lifetime; it's also away to invest your assets today so that you receive benefits, tax or income, during the remainder of your life.
Planned Giving can be complex. Several financial instruments can be adapted to meet your specific needs. It is for this reason it is important that you have confidence in the people and the organization you plan to support and that you work with professionals that are concerned with your needs. If Planned Giving is right for you, CHRF will enlist professionals to assist you in establishing the right planned giving program for you and your loved ones. Naturally, that includes working very closely with your personal legal and financial counselors.

Which Plan is Right for Me?
There are many options for you to chose from. The most popular is the Bequest, a simple provision in your will or estate. Another option is to name Children's Hunger relief Fund as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or an IRA. You could establish a Life Estate. This allows you to transfer your residence to CHRF while retaining the right to live there for life.
Perhaps a trust may offer you other benefits. A few examples include a Charitable Gift Annuity, a Charitable Remainder Trust, or a Charitable Lead Trust. These instruments allow you to shelter assets, can provide an income for you and one beneficiary, and offer some significant tax benefits for both you and your family members.
Our professional Planned Giving Team will work with you to determine the right plan for you. Your gift will have significant impact on the lives of these children well into the future.
Here are just a few examples of plans available:
Bequest: A provision in your will or estate plan that designates all or part of your estate to Children's Hunger Relief Fund.
Life Insurance: An arrangement in which you purchase, or change an existing policy, to name CHRF as the beneficiary of that life insurance policy. The cash value of that gift is tax deductible; as are any future premiums you may opt to pay on that policy. Only paid-in-full life insurance policies qualify as planned gifts.
Life Estate: A provision in which you transfer legal ownership of your home to CHRF while retaining the right to live there for life. You receive immediate income tax benefits.
Charitable Lead Trust: Individuals with large estates can use a Charitable Lead Trust. The trust makes fixed annual payments to CHRF for a specified term of years. At the end of the term, the principal reverts back to your family members with little or no tax penalty.

If you plan to make a charitable gift by will, please think it through carefully. Then, meet with your attorney to discuss and update your will. Tell him or her exactly what you want to do. Be as clear as possible in describing what you want given to whom.
