CHRF and Partners Make History with Clean Water in Kenya!
Children’s Hunger Relief Fund has exciting news from our partners in Kenya, news that has even made history in the country! Together, with the help of our generous donors and dedicated partners, CHRF helped install water purifiers in 179 schools in Kenya, that’s helping more then 50,000 children drink clean water! Our partners report, “It’s a first to have every school in any district buy in to the same program. We’ve shared our water purifying program with them and after accepting our offer, with the help of CHRF, we’ve installed these water purifiers in all of these schools! What’s more, we have designated specialists who routinely visit the school’s water systems to make sure that they are still working properly. It’s really a bit of history in East Africa.” But that’s not all. Sadly, drinking dirty water isn’t the only cause of death for children in these communities, lack of sanitation takes many lives. The children are often without any toilet paper and without any soap. As anybody could imagine, this lack of sanitation has drastic effects on the health of the children. Cholera in this area of the world can kill a child in as little as four days if it goes untreated. The children’s bodies will also develop “stomach worms” from the dirty bacteria that is entering their body. These worms in turn eat their red blood cells and stop the children from getting the nutrition they need. With all of these terrible things happening to innocent children, CHRF and our partners set out to act, and that’s exactly what we did by setting up “soap stations” at the many schools whom are also using the water purification system! Before installing the clean water our partners also go out to visit the schools and give instructional classes about how to use the new soap station. Our partners reported, “Without CHRF, we would not be where we are now! We’ve helped save countless lives in Kenya!” What is truly exciting is that the cost to help provide clean water for these beautiful little children in Kenya is only around 2 cents per month! That’s right, less than a quarter to help purify water for a child, FOR A WHOLE YEAR! Because our partners were able to purchase the water purification systems in such a large quantity and provide them to schools with so many children, the average cost was just 2 cents, increasing the impact of what we can do together for children around the world! From all of us at Children’s Hunger Relief Fund, as well as our partners in Kenya and around the world who dedicate their lives to helping alleviate the suffering of children, thank you for your support.
