Disaster strikes with Drought in Uganda:

It’s not only Somalia and Ethiopia that have been affected by the severe drought but the entire Western region of Africa. Uganda, which is going through its worst famine in over 40 years, has already lost over 7,000 acres of farmland. The portion of the country which is going through the worst of the drought is home to over one million people, most of whom depend on local food products to eat that may not be available for long.

Our Partners in Uganda who run an orphanage and feeding program are feeling the effects of the drought and have been rationing the food for their children, thankfully however, the children still have food and will continue to receive nourishment for their bodies as long as CHRF is able to continue our support for these wonderful miracles in Uganda.

The situation has a potential to get worse with project partners requesting more food for the children to survive the drought as their own gardens and small patch of farming land has been burnt along with the 7,000 total acres to have been destroyed in Uganda so far. CHRF Donors have responded and we have increased support to our partners in Uganda in order to help them meet their urgently growing need for food. But the list of requests go on as the local school needs supplies to teach the children and many of the children, recently rescued from begging and sleeping on the streets, need clothes.
