Disaster Sweeps Across Our Projects in the Philippines:

Many of our faithful CHRF Donors have heard about the disastrous flooding that hit the Philippines and many of the surrounding areas. The floods caused 95 deaths and affected 3,000,000 people! Among those affected were many of the children that CHRF Donors have supported for years at our local orphanage and school. At the home, CHRF and our partners have worked together to provide these beautiful children who have been neglected, orphaned or abandoned by their families with safe shelter, an education, and a new life complete with healthy and daily meals.

But in August when the floods swept across Manila the children, along with our CHRF partners, were immediately evacuated for their safety. The center and homes for the children were quickly submerged by 4-6 feet of dirty water as panic flooded across Manila.

Cold, wet, hungry and desperate for help the children and our partners faced a drastic, disheartening and hopeless situation. That is until Children’s Hunger Relief Fund and our loyal donors stepped up and were able to respond with gravely needed aid and support providing emergency supplies and meals for the children.

Together our support will also help guard against looters at the school and orphanage while everyone is still evacuated. The water has only receded a few feet in the time following the disastrous floods but, when the water finally withdraws, CHRF is committed to helping repair the damage caused by the flooding. “Our support on behalf of the CHRF Donors in Laguna (the school & orphanage) has helped restore the lives of innocent and loving children that had nobody to care for them.” Tells CHRF Board Director Monte E. Wilson, who has visited the exemplary project. “It’s important that we stick to our mission and our partners now in this time of great need. Together we have been able to timely respond to this disaster because of the generosity of our Donors! These children have already been abandoned once in their lives, as long as we are able we will not let that happen again!” On behalf of our dedicated partners in the Philippines we thank you for your heart-felt support to our work.
