Feeding Refugees in Ethiopia

With Easter around the corner, many of us are busy choosing items to fill our little ones baskets with, planning the big day with a special church service, BBQ, egg dying, and egg hunts.

Sadly, this is not how families in Ethiopia are envisioning this holiday. According to the UN Refugee Agency (https://reporting.unhcr.org/ethiopia), there are over 800,000 refugees and over 2 million internally displaced persons (IDP). This means there are nearly 3 million people who wake up each day in Ethiopia wondering where they will go next, what will they eat? Will they have any water to drink that day? Will they be safe?

Fleeing from conflict inside and outside Ethiopia, refugees and IDP's are forced to set up camp, sleeping in make shift tents, and in many cases, outside with no form of shelter. In these areas with no water sources and unbearable heat, the needy are constantly praying a truck will come in filled with water and food.

With the closing of borders in crisis areas, providing relief has become much more difficult. Fortunately, our Emergency Relief Director has been reporting to us from Africa ensuring they are still reaching refugee camps. Driving through rough terrain for several hours, visiting isolated locations where few others dare to tread. Here, our team is answering prayers by delivering food, water, and other emergency aide supplies.

Living in these conditions, forced out of their village with nothing but the clothes on their backs, children confused, starving, thirsty, not knowing what is going to happen next, has to be absolutely terrifying.
