Good Samaritans: A Summer of New Beginnings!

Earlier this summer CHRF’s 2011 Good Samaritan of the year Judi Gentry lead a team of volunteers over to Africa in order to help inspect, inspire and bring support and love to her favorite Orphanage and school in Uganda. This was Judi’s second trip to Bulubandi, the first time Judi has been back to the orphanage and school that she has adopted and been relentlessly gathering support for over the last few years.

Because of many Children’s Hunger Relief Fund generous donors, CHRF has been able to partner with Judi for the last year in order to help care for, feed, shelter and provide an education and a hope for the future to more than 35 orphans!

Judi shared with CHRF a few of the highlights of her trip, “We installed TWO lovely little solar units at two locations and lives will be saved because of them. One was installed on the roof of a tiny medical center in a village which has no electricity at all!  Dangerous and Difficult deliveries at night were performed by candlelight! This caused loss of the lives of young mothers all over Uganda.” Besides smiles and joy, Judi and her team also provided brand new school uniforms for the children as well as a mattress for an older woman living in the nearby village who had previously been sleeping on the dirt in her hut.

In her mid 70’s Judi isn’t satisfied with just providing the children with new uniforms, now she is gathering support to help re-build some of the classrooms in the school where bricks and walls have begun to crumble! Judi and her team are inspiring to us all, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children who so desperately need help! It’s people like Judi and her team that bring hope to so many children around the world!
