Hurricanes Eta and Iota Cause Mass Destruction in Nicaragua
Category four hurricanes, Eta and Iota, the largest in Nicaragua's history, reached landfall last month causing deaths and demolishing the homes of hundreds in the impoverished nation.
These families have been completely stripped of their livelihoods. Their homes and crops have been destroyed and their livestock have likely all been lost. They only have each other, the clothes on their backs, and what they can find rummaging through the remains that the hurricanes left behind.
CHRF has been in contact with our project partners in Nicaragua to help provide relief for this struggling community that needs our help now more than ever. From everyday meals, to rebuilding homes, CHRF will be helping to care for the needy during this tragic time. We ask for your support to ensure we can provide rapid and substantial assistance as soon as possible!
Staple foods such as rice, beans, and oil are what is needed for these families to be able to have a warm meal in these trying times.
- As little as $1 can help feed a family for one day
- For as little as $33, CHRF can help provide these necessities to a family for one month
To ensure that homes are protected from future weather crises, our partners will be providing materials to assist in the rebuild process and crafting of stable roofs. Materials such as ceiling sheets, zinc ceiling nails, and wood nails, are already being donated and the process of rebuilding has begun. Each home receives 20 zinc sheets for the ceiling, 10 pounds of ceiling nails, and 10 pounds of galvanized nails for wood.
- In Nicaragua, all of the supplies for one roof is about $265
Children's Hunger Relief Fund needs your help so we can assist in getting these families back in their homes, warm meals to eat, and their livelihoods restored.
We thank you for your continued support this holiday season and throughout this challenging year. God bless you.
