Lives Saved in Somalia! Over 400,000 Meals provided:

Once again CHRF and our emergency relief team have delivered life saving meals and supplies to children and families in Somalia. This time, with the generosity of our donors we delivered over 400,000 meals! Our team recently returned from the other part of the world on their reoccurring trips to help refugees in Syria only to turn around and travel to the horn of Africa where your help is urgently needed.

The situation in Somalia, although greatly helped by our generous donors and team, is still very desperate. Sadly thousands of children are suffering from various problems such as dehydration, malnutrition and other deadly diseases. Our Team Leader reports: “I will never get used to seeing children suffering. The heavy feeling in my heart and stomach comes over me every time. You come so close to innocent starving children dying, knowing that you are in time to save many lives. But for a few you are too late - nothing, no amount of words, pictures or letters can describe the heaviness and reality of this moment.

If I could only bring our donors here, to meet the children whose lives they have saved, perhaps then you could understand how much your help means to these beautiful children. Another difficult moment to come is when we run out of the food to pass out to the families who have run here from home to help their families. Is their anything worse then looking a mother in the eye and telling her that you have no more food to help? The look in her eyes of complete desperation, as she must now return home to her children empty handed, without a way to feed them. There will be no food for dinner, or the next meal, or the next…

There is nothing more we can do for these people, I feel empty, gutted, terrible. But then comes your good news. CHRF’s team in the USA tells me that there will be more support for these people, more help for these families and these innocent children because good people like YOU have sent us more help!

We will return soon with many more LIFE-SAVING meals. Who can hold back tears of joy at such great news? All thanks to the generosity of our CHRF team and YOU, our donors. Because of donors like you who partner with CHRF in Somalia and around the world, there are meals for hungry children! This trip alone our team was able to deliver over 130,000 pounds of food to hungry families! More than 1,200 different families and children received our food packages and will eat over 420,000 meals! We cannot thank you enough for your help and support. Not only are we saving lives together, we are restoring hope to the hopeless!
