Saving Lives: GREAT News From Your Team In Somalia
We have seen it before, when one door closes for our Emergency Relief Team, another door opens. This time, due to recent radical developments in the Middle East, the team was unable to personally distribute support to local projects in Afghanistan. Instead of packing up and going back to home base, the team held a meeting and judged that Somalia urgently needed more food for the tens of thousands of children and families that are still are on the verge of starvation in the region. The Emergency Team Leader writes to YOU: “The CHRF Donors really took a stand to do something about the Somalia Famine and War last year by providing support. Which meant we were able to go out in the field and represent them, delivering over one million meals in 2011. The job wasn’t easy, many times in danger, our deliveries in jeopardy (not too mention our lives) but we always were able to get through to the people. This year we are continuing helping the children and families who need it most in Somalia by providing 80,000 meals per month minimum to over 1,500 children and family members who depend on our support to eat. Together we have already provided close to a quarter of a million meals in 2012! We’ve got a responsibility to others in this, to the starving children out there who need us and the food so desperately, and to CHRF and our Donors who have given support in order to provide for these kids. We don’t take that responsibility lightly”. Days after writing about the danger the team faces another attempt was made on their lives in the field. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the team were able to provide thousands of meals to the hungry children and their families in the region. Our Emergency Team Leader continued to write: “Remember, our work is not only important, it’s essential, we go where no other aid agencies have been to, the children and their mothers and fathers are truly taken aback in shock when they see us coming. Because of CHRF Donors, We Bring Hope to the Hopeless.” Together the team was able to deliver to five different villages in Somalia that desperately needed more food and supplies. Without the help of the CHRF Emergency Team, through CHRF Donors, many of them could have starved and died from malnutrition. THANK YOU for making Life-Saving Emergency Trips like this possible. The team’s next stop is Sudan in areas that are being raided and pillaged and where children desperately need angels, angels like the CHRF Emergency Relief Team, to provide for them.
