Soup Kitchen in Costa Rica Improvised due to COVID Restrictions
This past year has been a challenging one for all of us; and this is especially true for many families in Costa Rica. Having no work due to the pandemic, countless families were suffering and unable to provide basic necessities, such as food and water, for themselves or their children.
Serving coffee, juice, hearty soup, beans, Bolsa, fresh fruit, and other meals three times a week, families in Costa Rica have heavily relied on our partner community food kitchen for many years. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the pandemic, temporary closures of food kitchens and restaurants made it nearly impossible for parents to provide warm meals for their children.
The closure did not stop our partners from helping desperate families in need however! Sometimes, in a time of crisis you have to get creative; and that's just what they did! To ensure that families had enough to eat, food drives were conducted and aid packages prepared for the local families in need until the community kitchen could safely re-open.
Food bags filled with rice, beans, tuna, powdered milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, and other packaged nutritious foods, were handed out to those in need.
It is true what they say about raising and caring for a family, it takes a village. During these uncertain times, it is so important that we are helping each other! Please help us ensure another family receives one of these life saving bags filled with nutritious foods so their little ones do not have to go to bed hungry.
On behalf of CHRF and our partners, thank you and God bless.
