We need a Christmas Miracle: Fire in Mexico

For so many of us, Christmas is the best time of the year. Surrounded by good food, an array of desserts, family and friends; you can't help but feel the warmth of God's love in the air.

The excitement of writing a letter to Santa Claus, baking him cookies, and leaving carrots for his reindeer on Christmas Eve are some of my fondest memories as a child. The anticipation of waking up Christmas morning to see the gifts Santa and his elves chose is something that every single child should experience.

Sadly, instead of joy, the holiday season this year in Juarez, Mexico, is filled with continued struggle. For over 50 years, our partner children's home has given needy children a place to live, somewhere they can go to feel loved, supported, gain an education, and receive all the care they need to create a better future.

This beacon of hope is where Christmas magic happens for these needy children. Tragically last month, in just six short hours, a fire burned everything down. Luckily, no one was injured, but the building was completely destroyed.

Little ones whose parents work long hours many days of the week, those whose families are vulnerable, in a state of crisis, and ones who simply need a home where their needs can be met, come here. Now, after the fire, there is no where for these children to go.

The children who depend on our partner home, need our help now more than ever. Before the home and school can be rebuilt, which could take months or years, temporary solutions are needed. For now, their clinic facility is being transformed into offices and classrooms and a temporary home will be set up in their church building, but this cannot happen without any supplies.
